How Breathwork Heals Trauma

Trauma is the emotional, psychological, and physiological response to deeply distressing or disturbing experiences that overwhelm an individual’s ability to cope. It often results from events or circumstances that threaten one’s sense of safety, stability, or well-being.

Trauma can manifest in various ways:

  • Acute Trauma: Caused by a single, significant event such as an accident, assault, or natural disaster.

  • Chronic Trauma: Stemming from prolonged exposure to harmful situations, such as abuse, neglect, or living in a war zone.

  • Complex Trauma: Arising from repeated or layered traumatic experiences, often in interpersonal relationships, like ongoing abuse or betrayal.
